Having gone through two different internships in three academic years, I've opted out of doing an engineering placement this summer; working on my blog and two business ventures. It also helps us to gain maturity and courage that we need after graduation. Plus, you have a ready professional reference when you need some later and if you are lucky, mentors that can help you find better job in the future.
