A great post and a great piece of advice. Sometimes students just feel their brain is overloaded and it's not able to remember anything. The truth is we can practice our whole life to improve the way our brain works and we will really learn more efficiently already after a couple of exercises.

These are great tips. I also try to use techniques like that while studying. For me visual learning is the easiest so I try to have the material I have to learn everywhere around me. And colour helps as well, I mark the most important things so they're easier to notice.

For me, rewriting my notes (or even taking notes on my notes if I don't have time to rewrite) has worked really well. It helps things stick. Also, for my bio classes I have always drawn out diagrams of organs, cells, and processes (like the Kreb cycle) in color--somehow labeling things in different colors made it easier for me to remember the diagrams during tests.
