5 Ways to make some quick money

1. Sell on ebay. This requires some research, but what I do is scour Best Buy and Circuit City (and other such electronics retailers) for great sales, then buy the product and put it on ebay. Best Buy has some great sales where you can get $100 off retail value, sell it on ebay and get a $50-75 profit easily.

2. Join websites that pay you to fill out surveys and do free trials. The ones with high payout are usually trial offers that require a credit card to join, and if you cancel within the trial, you won’t be billed. I’ve made $80 in two months with Cash Crate. You’ll also need an extra email address for all the spam you will get from the surveys.

3. Do laundry for your friends. It costs me $2 to wash and dry one load of clothes, so charge $4 and you make easy money with a few minutes of work.

4. Bring energy drinks and snacks to all-night study sessions in the university center or library and sell them to the different study groups. This works best during finals week.

5. If you’re decent with computers, start a computer maintenance “business”. Post flyers advertising your services around campus. Offer to backup hard drives, clean up and optimize computers, install new memory…Charge half of what it costs to take it to Best Buy.

Be careful with buying from best buy and selling on ebay, because that is usually very tricky to pull off. Best buy and similar electronics stores have their sales on a state or national level, which means if they drop the price for a certain item, ebay will be oversaturated with people just like you and the overall price will drop.

  2. Sydney says:

Good point, Geoff. What I do actually is wait about two weeks after purchasing the item. Stuff in the weekly ads go back up to regular price the following Sunday so by the time I get the item (usually takes a week), I wait one more and then list it. Hasn’t let me down so far. Also, I always check with ebay first, see what the going rate is for whatever it is.

Those are really great tips to make quick money! I’m a university student and could use some of those right about now for tuition fees. Thanks a bunch!

These are some very good tips! I especially like number 4..brilliant..Had never thought of it.

Although my friends and I did joke about trying selling sour candy to stay awake in our incredibly sleep inducing chemistry class.

I like number 3 too. I bet there’s a lot of money to be made there.

sounds like good advice. I’ll try that once I’m off to college and jobless lol.

Sounds fun too – only I’m way too busy for any of that right now. :(
You could also offer webdesign services. Haha.

  9. Destiny says:

Thanks for the tips!! I’ve spent years looking into those, but I never had the patience to follow through. I’m glad you’re able to max out on the web as well!

Great ideas, I used to run an xbox 360 ‘repair’ operation, but they were an arse ache to work on – simple jobs like you mention would be perfect though!

I earned $841 in 30 days. Yes thats true!

What services do you offer exactly for “maintenance”? As a fellow mac user I would like to know if you only work on macs or do you grab a copy of norton or whatever and help out the windows guys too.

  13. Jamie says:

Hey… those are really awesome and unique ideas, but like someone else said I’m just wayy too busy. The laundry idea is awesome! However tomorrow my roommates and i are moving into a townhouse with a washer and dryer!

I just wanted to say that I just recently go into MLM (Multi-Level-Marketing) and there was a small initial investment but it is actually really fun and excited to see sales begin to happen. Its not for everyone and it does take time but maybe you’ll enjoy it.

p.s. For those college kids who enjoy writing or are super good with writing, MLM is perfect for you!

I’d like to try point number one, make money on ebay

    Any tutorial ?

  16. Brian says:

You can also try paid to blog services that are available on the internet. Perhaps if your a writer you can sell your articles to perspective buyers.

  17. John Peden says:

@Chocolate using ebay is pretty intuitive, just click the sell button at the top of the page.

@Brian blogging for dollars is a bit of a slow process, but ghostwriting as you suggest would pay better. Check out the job board on problogger.net.

Depending on the school, #4 and #5 can be impossible. At the school I’m at, energy drinks are literally available everywhere and free computer service is offered.

The first tip is really good though. I don’t use it to re-sell electronics, but I do wait till the book rush to re-sell my school books since I could easily get new-sell price. :D

Good post. Unique. I like the laundry one. I bet that if someone took that seriously they could earn some quick extra cash…especially with male athletes, or these days females too. lol. And freelancing is really cool for college student plus if you do something in an area that you want to work in later it work out to be a good resume builder.

If only I had seen this list when I was in college. I was stuck breaking my back on snow removal, and grass cutting.

I make money in college with the MyBookCart.com referral program. For every book buyback they receive in the mail using my referral code, I get paid a 10% commission. They mail me free flyers that contain my referral code and all I have to do is hang them around campus and wait to get paid. http://www.mybookcart.com

I earn money the old fashion way by staying at home and doing random surfing and it doesn’t hurt at all.I must say that when I first went to the Swagbucks website, I was a little confused and somewhat skeptical. It mentioned things like being a “premier rewards site” and a leading online search engine. But if they were a search engine, then how does one generate the rewards from? And why have I never heard of them? Well, it turns out that Swagbucks is indeed pretty legit.

It’s amazingly simple. You just sign up and you can either go to their website each time you want to gain points for surfing the web, or you can just download the Swagbucks toolbar and do your searches from there.

Then each time you do a search using the Swagbucks search engine, you gain Swag Bucks which are good towards a wide variety of prizes, including everything from GPS systems to memorabilia to gift cards to actual cash via PayPal.

During the writing of this review, I installed the Swagbucks toolbar on my computer at home. At the completion of this review, I had already gained 410 Swag Bucks! Now, I’ve only got 40 to go before I can get a $5 Amazon gift card!

Use this referal link to get a bonus of swagbucks for signing up!

I just joined cashcrate and I would want to know if there would be a chance that my account will work when I go to Japan because I will spending my next month there. Hope someone would answer me.

  27. Jon says:

I could never imagine doing laundry for my friends (#3). Gross. That might be one way to make money while you’re in college, but I think I’ll pass on that one :)
